My Sermon Notes
How do you receive the word?
Luke 4:28-29(rejected)28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
Mark 8:31(rejected)
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Luke 4:32 astonishedAnd they were astonished (10 times used) at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Mark 11:18 astonishedAnd the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
Die to self!
2 Cor 5:15-1715 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh:(we look at them spiritually) yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (Gal 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.) old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (Gal 5:19-22 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these:
The Lord will lead you.
Ps 37:23The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Part AEph 6:10-1710 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.(Holy Spirit)
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles(tricks) of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.(we’re up against spiritual powers, not people)
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth (1 Pet 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ) and having on the breastplate of righteousness;(walking right with God)
15 And your feet shod(ready to go) with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
So the Armor is: loins, breastplate, shield, helmet, and sword
Stand
Ex 14:13-14 Moses says: “ Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord”, also “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
Ps 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God
Ps 91:1-21 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
We don’t fight the devil actively, howling, and shouted, we fight him by drawing nigh to God.
James 4:7-8
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
Part BRom 12:1-21 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies(the world has no mercy) of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, (Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me) also (Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.) holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed: (1 Pet 1:14 not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance) to this world:( I Jn 5:19And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.) but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, (2 Cor 4:16For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.)
