My Sermon Notes
IS JESUS GOD?
Jehovah told Adam if you eat of the fruit of the tree, you will die, and it did happen.
And the price Adam (we) had to pay was death, (in the spirit) for being found guilty.
But then Jehovah said, I will become man, and pay for your sins.
When Mary a human, had Jesus, he became Son of Man, but because the sperm came from God, it also made him Son of God.
Mary had a child with God
Matt 1:18
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Who created everything?
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.
In chapter 1 it says God created everything in 6 days
Ps 33:6-9 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Heb 1:2-3 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Col 1:14-17
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
The Old Testament says Jehovah created everything,
And the New Testament says Jesus created everything,
Seem like we have a contradiction here,
Or it means the two are one.
In the Old Testament when you see the word LORD all in capital letters, it means Jehovah God,
I Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily(trinity)
You have the Trinity, 3 in 1, but there is only one God, not three Gods.
Jehovah who is Father
Jehovah who is son
Jehovah the Holy Spirit
Who is the Saviour?
Isa 43:11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
Remember Matt 1:21 The angel of the Lord told Joseph he would have a son, “and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Luke 2:10-11
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Acts 4:10-12
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Who do you worship?
John 4:19-24
.9 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
a) Right above this, Jesus points out her sin, and because of that, she recognize that he must be a preacher.
b) She takes the spot light off of her, and starts talking about why the Jews worship in Jerusalem and her fathers worship in the mountains.
c) Jesus answers and says that the day is coming that, it doesn’t matter were you worship, has long as you worship in truth and in spirit.
Verse 22 – who do you worship?
If you say “the Son of God” it’s true, but that’s not all.
Jehovah was the only one who healed leprosy in the Old Testament.
2 Kings 5:7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
Who healed leprosy in the New Testament?
Matt 8:2-3 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Who can forgive sin?
2 Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Mark 2:7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Luke 7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
Matt 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
Who controls the weather?
Ex 14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
Matt 8:26-27
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Luke 8:25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
Who is the “I am”
Ex 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
John 18:4-6
4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
Who is the Sheperd?
Ps 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Who is the First and the Last?
Isa 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Rev 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
Who is our Redeemer?
Isa 47:4 As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Devil tempts Jesus
Luke 4:6-7
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Jesus could not argue with him because it was true.
The devil is telling Jesus, you don’t have to die on the cross, if you’ll just fall down and worship me; I’ll give you these kingdoms of the world.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Satan has always wanted to be higher than Jehovah God.
Isa 14:12-13
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
We usually don’t look up in the Old Testament, where it says in the New Testament, “It is written” like in verse 8
Deut 6:13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Matt 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Matt 9:18-19 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
Matt 20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
Matt 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Matt 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Luke 24:52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
Heb 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
He is called God by the apostle John
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1 Tim 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
He is called God by the apostle Thomas
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
He is called God by God the Father
Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Man refused worship
Acts 10:25-26
25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
Paul had healed a man who was crippled since birth, and the people started to give Paul things like to worship him and he says:
Acts 14:15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
John was extremely popular. Many were ready to receive him as the Messiah. He was able to draw a large, and it shows the value of John's testimony, that he was willing to lay all his honors at the feet of Jesus and to acknowledge that he was unworthy
Acts 12:21-23
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an speech unto them. (he preached to them)
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
We should not rely too much on ministers of the gospel. They cannot save us any more than John could; or their office, we are to simply direct people "to the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world."
John was listening to a angel, and after the angel spoke John,
Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
John 1:30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Jesus being six months younger than John, as well as starting his ministry
“Is preferred before me” Is superior to me,
“He was before me” This can refer to nothing but his pre-existence, that he EXISTED before John,
Acts 7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Angel of the Lord means Jesus, who appeared to the people in the Old Testament, because:
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Phili 2:6 Who, being in the form of God,
I believe that it was Jesus that walked in the garden with Adam, because of these verses.
Ex 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
1 Tim 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Num 12:5-8
5 And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud, (with Moses he spoke to him from a flaming bush) and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
A) With him will I speak mouth to mouth, — immediately, not by an interpreter, nor by visionary symbols.
B) apparently,— plainly and surely.
C) not in dark speeches; — parables.
D) the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: — not the face or essence of God, but the likeness of God.
Gen 18:1 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
Abraham saw 3 men standing at the door, but when he spoke, he said “My Lord”
This is when Jehovah Jesus spoke to Abraham, about Sarah having a baby.
Jehovah Jesus is speaking to the parents of Samson, and in Judges 13:2-3 it says that the angel of the Lord appeared and spoke to the women, that she would have a son, and in verse 22 the husband said “we shall surely die, because we have seen God” but they didn’t
This when Jacob wrestle with Jehovah Jesus
Gen 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
Again it had to be the similitude of God, like we read in Num 12:8
This is what made Jesus deity.
Phil 2:6-11
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
John 5:22-23
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
The Humanity of Jesus
Jehovah God would not and will not resurrect a false prophet.
So he approved of what Jesus said and did,
And that is why the resurrection of Jesus is so important.
If there was no resurrection, we are lost forever.
Rom 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
He paid for our sins, and brought us back to God through him, if we’ll accept it.
You may say that in
John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
1 Cor 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
1 Cor 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
These verse show that Jesus is less than God, yes, but it’s because he was speaking in his humanity, Jesus son of man couldn’t be in Beaumont and in Houston at the same time.
That’s why Jesus told them that he had to go away, so he could be with everyone at the same time.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Isa 63:2-3 (TLB)
2 "Why are your clothes so red, as from treading out the grapes?"
3 "I have trodden the winepress alone. No one was there to help me. In my wrath I have trodden my enemies like grapes. In my fury I trampled my foes. It is their blood you see upon my clothes.
The blood here is not His own, but that of His enemies.
To show that he was just come from recent slaughter.
II Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Gal 2:4 Even that question came up only because of some so-called Christians there—false ones, really—who were secretly brought in. They sneaked in to spy on us and take away the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to enslave us and force us to follow their Jewish regulations.
Matt 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
But it’s not possible, because:
John 10:25-27
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Jehovah told Adam if you eat of the fruit of the tree, you will die, and it did happen.
And the price Adam (we) had to pay was death, (in the spirit) for being found guilty.
But then Jehovah said, I will become man, and pay for your sins.

Gen 18:1 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
Abraham saw 3 men standing at the door, but when he spoke, he said “My Lord”
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
- Matt 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
- Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
- John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
- John 4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
- John 11:35 Jesus wept.
- Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
