My Sermon Notes

This is for born again believers

Do you know what God has for you now?

We are a light

Matt 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

What does that mean?

John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the

world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”

Phil 2:15-16 “so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people”

Acts 13:47 “For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.”

Rom 2:19 “You are convinced that you are a guide for the blind and a light for people who are lost in darkness.

Christian life, be pure, and your faith, strong in the Lord,

We do this in our daily walk in the world, at work, at home and where ever we go,

Let them see what Christianity really is.

24/7

Good times or bad times.

To conceal or hide our Christianity is to render our lives useless for him.

True Christians do their acts to glorify God,

Who does he call?

1 Cor 1:26-31

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

He’s calling those who are poor in spirit like it says in Matt 5

Not wise, mighty, or wealthy if you think of yourself this way.

He calls those that the world thinks are foolish, weak, and poor in spirit.

We accept no glory for the good things they have done.

We give all glory to God.

As being the light we are all called to be ministers.

2 Cor 5:18-20

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he was dead, yet shall he live”

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

He has commanded to preach the word of God to reconcile those who are lost.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Eph 6:19-20  “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds, that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Jesus is speaking here and this same ministry that was his, he left to us also.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the (A)power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people, (B)who are set apart by faith in me.'

A) Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

B)  John 17:14-18

14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Ex 33:16 How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don't go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth."

The Amish are living the way the Lord wanted us to live, being set apart from the world.

2 Cor 5:11  “Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too”

Luke 14:23 Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Look at what the disciples did.

John 1:41 “He (Andrew) first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ”

John 1:45 “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph”

Matt 4:12 “Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!"

Luke 10:16 “Then he said to the disciples, "Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me."

Do you see the trinity here?

Rom 10:14-15

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Matt 28:19-20

19 Go (going) ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

This is not for Pastors.

God give us the power

Heb 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful”

1Peter 4:11  If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God, if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth,

Look at what God did for Moses

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:  and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

John 20:21-22 then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you, as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.  And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

Peace be unto you

Matt 5: 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Christians who are truly born again.

even so send I you (just like Jesus did it)

They have men out there who can make you feel good for a while.

Like musicians they get you all fired up.

Same thing with preachers and teachers motivational speaker.

They stand up there and get loud and rave their hands.

All that is for nothing if the word of God is not penetrating your heart.

Some of us use the excuse that we need to earn their respect or be friends with them first?

Is this in the bible, how did Jesus do it?

Jesus in John 4:16-18 met this women for the first time and he witness to and showed love to the Samaritan women at the well, but he didn’t hesitate to confront her sinful ways, about telling her she had 5 husbands and the one she’s living with now is not her husband.

God didn’t sugar coat anything.

he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me”

Spirit that comes in you, salvation.

Spirit that comes upon you is anointment, power.

John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

1 Cor 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Speak about Church classes.

Zech 4:6 “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.”

Another reason we need to be witnesses is.

Prov 28:26

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

If my good out weights my bad.

2 John 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

I believe in God, (the devil believes).

Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Who are the wicked and the unrighteous?

Is it the murders, stealers, and the liars, yes, but also good people!

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Religious people need to be witness to also.

Matt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

What happens when we witness

Acts 2:46-47

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Acts 5:42

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Acts 16:5

And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

There’s a price to pay here on earth, but in heaven there will be rewards.  Amen.

Look at the disciples some of them were stoned to death, others crucify, some got their heads cut off, to tell the lost about Jesus and his salvation that he has for them.

Right now we don’t have to worry about this.

I would call this the highest form of love there is, when you risk everything to tell them about Jesus even if you lose a family member or a good friend.

Mark 6:4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

When you don’t witness you give victory to the devil

What different are you from the lost people if don’t tell people about the Lord?

Rom 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
